Western Edge Wrestling Club Receives R.E.A.C.H.E.S. Donation
The Western Edge Wrestling Club would like to extend a grateful thank you to the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. organization, along with Adidas Wrestling for supporting our club with new singlets. We were able to get singlets that matched our club colors and add our logo using the Adidas Singlet Creator tool.
Western Edge is a club that has supported the youth of the area for over 60 years. The club runs on a volunteer system and does not generate income. All club dues and fees are used for utility costs for our wrestling room or to enter the athletes into dual tournaments and other wrestling events throughout the season.
Four years ago, the local school closed the school in the town of Wood Lake, which is where Western Edge is located. This closure took away the only space available to practice. With the help of the community Western Edge was able to rent a space in a city building to continue the program. Singlets have been something the club has wanted to replace for multiple years, but with the move there were no funds available to do this. The new building needed a bathroom added, new heaters, padding for the walls, water dug and added to the building, and these costs fell on the club.
R.E.A.C.H.E.S. allowed us to give back to the youth without having to rely on donations from our parents and other community members, who have donated greatly for us to have a space to practice.
R.E.A.C.H.E.S. (Rewarding Educational Athletic Choices Helping Each Sport) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2007 to help promote youth sports by providing funding for multiple sports to continue helping youth in areas of need.
Western Edge would like to once again thank the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. program for their support, and specifically to Walt Fisk for his help in guiding us through the process.
