Toledo Public Schools Receives Generous Wrestling Gear Contribution

Wrestling is one of the most popular sports among student athletes. Toledo Public Schools continues working to bolster its wrestling program and would like to thank several supporters for the generous donations they made to the program. Beat The Streets USA and Al Bevilacqua donated $3000 worth of head gear and shoes to the TPS wrestling program, while Brute’s R.E.A.C.H.E.S Program made a generous contribution of singlets and head gear for the wrestlers, totaling $15,000 made possible by John Purnell of Henson Sports Groups, Jeff Bowyer of R.E.A.C.H.E.S and Matt Moos of Beat The Streets Toledo.

Brute and R.E.A.C.H.E.S have also provided additional equipment to the student wrestlers. Currently, there are seven TPS wrestling teams – one team per learning community. Each team is comprised of students from their respective learning community. In addition, Beat the Streets in partnership with USA Wrestling have established a K-6 wrestling program to support the extracurricular activities of youth throughout the city of Toledo. Practices for the Beat The Streets Program are every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6-8 at Start High School. District leaders hope to broaden the program in the future.
