Steelville R-III School District Receives R.E.A.C.H.E.S. Donation
The Steelville R-III School District would like to thank the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. organization and Resilite for their willingness to support an upstart program in rural Missouri with the donation of a lightly used LiteWeight wrestling mat. We received a mat that matches our school colors, one that was originally used at the University of Nebraska.
Our Steelville Wrestling program has made the most of this charitable giving by introducing wrestling to approximately 140 students, ranging from Kindergarten through 8th grade, in the first week of camps alone. By removing the largest barrier of entry for a wrestling program, R.E.A.C.H.E.S. has set in motion the opportunity for more Steelville students to be involved in athletics, specifically those who do not normally interact in a team setting. The effects of this donation will impact our students for decades to come.
Our community is unfamiliar with wrestling, and we are excited to introduce the “original sport” to our student body. There is no better way to build the essential life skills of discipline, confidence, respect, humility, and toughness than wrestling. With their donation, R.E.A.C.H.E.S. has provided the opportunity for those skills to grow on the mat.
