Southside Wrestling Grant Recipient
Southside Wrestling was selected as a R.E.A.C.H.E.S. grant recipient to support our growing wrestling program. The $5000 grant for adidas gear helped the program greatly. Last year was our first year adding a girls team starting with 4 and this year tripled that. Our team consists of Middle School, Junior Varsity, Varsity, and girls. It has grown from just over 30 to almost 50 on roster in one year. With the growing numbers, funding the team is becoming more and more challenging. We do a lot of fundraising to keep the team moving forward. The growth is exciting and we were so thankful to be able to use the grant money to purchase new starter jackets for our varsity team with weight classes on the sleeve, starter jackets for our girls team, and new custom headgear for almost everyone on the team. We are excited that wrestling is growing quickly in Southside Alabama and we are so grateful to R.E.A.C.H.E.S. for their help and support.
