Reaches Donates Brute Singlets and Earguards to Hallsville Optimist Youth Wrestling Club

Hallsville, MO. – The R.E.A.C.H.E.S. non profit organization recently supported the Hallsville Optimist Youth Wrestling Club (HOYWC), a not for profit youth wrestling club associated with the Hallsville Optimists and a member club of Missouri USA Wrestling, through the donation of customized Brute Wrestling singlets and Brute earguards. HOYWC is a new club whose mission is to provide a positive learning environment through the vehicle of wrestling to instill discipline, fair play and a positive work ethic, with a goal to develop a community supported youth wrestling program that will provide well trained student athletes that are prepared to successfully compete in wrestling and life. In only the second year of organization the club has increased in size from 16 athletes to almost 40. “Wrestling is new to the Hallsville community, but has quickly gained widespread support,” said head coach, Ronald K Tessman. The coach added, “The singlets and ear guard donation will allow us to keep the costs for participation to a minimum and insure that more kids will get a chance to wrestle. We are very grateful for the generous gift supplied by the R.E.AC.H.E.S. program and their ongoing support of wrestling”. Brandon Borlinghaus, one of the HOYWC wrestlers, added, “The singlets are really cool!!! I can’t wait to wear one on the mat”.

About Brute Wrestling

Brute Wrestling  was founded in 1967, in Virginia, by retired U.S. Navy Captain Josiah Henson. Captain Henson was an Olympic bronze medalist in Freestyle wrestling in 1952 and the first American wrestler to beat a Russian at the Olympics. The company began as the first wrestling mail order business. John Purnell joined the company in 1975 and in 1977 became the President and majority owner. Shortly thereafter, Purnell moved the company to Reading, Pennsylvania to begin manufacturing wrestling uniforms under the brand name Brute Wrestling. At that time, the company began distributing through a network of sporting goods dealers. In 1989, a line of soccer uniforms was added under the name Liga Soccer. In 2003, the company product line was expanded to include custom uniforms for volleyball, softball and basketball under the brand name NeuEdge Sportswear. NeuEdge Sportswear quickly became one of the leading producers of custom sublimated team uniforms in the country. In 2010, Henson Group launched a lacrosse and field hockey line under the brand Evolve Team Sportswear. Today Henson Group Sports provides a complete line of top quality wrestling, lacrosse, softball, basketball and volleyball products and apparel to sporting goods dealers; amateur and professional athletic clubs and teams; and other buyers all over North America.
