St. Amant High Wrestling Receives R.E.A.C.H.E.S Funding
St. Amant High school is located in Southeast Louisiana in the parish of Ascension. The school educates more than 2000 students from all walks of life. The wrestling team has relatively short history, with small numbers and not much success. That has changed in recent years with coaching and wrestlers taking ownership of the team. Numbers are growing, with 30 to 40 kids on the team each year. The team has enjoyed collective and individual success at the local and state level. Our team dual record improved in 2015 to 32-5. We had two runner-ups and a 5th place finish at our 5A division 1 state tournament. We look to improve upon our success this season.
The recent flooding in Southeast Louisiana greatly impacted our school. Our entire campus was inundated with almost two feet of water. 2 St. Amant High Wrestling Receives R.E.A.C.H.E.S 1 We lost our mats, digital score boards, singlets, headgear, everything we worked so hard to raise money for. With the majority of our funds being generated by fundraising and donations, the team is left with nothing with the season fast approaching. R.E.A.C.H.E.S. stepped up and donated singlets to start the season! Our team cannot be more thankful to R.E.A.C.H.E.S. and Walt Fisk for this generous donation during our time of need.
