Dothan High School Receives Weighty Grant

Dothan High School Wrestling team located in Dothan, Alabama would like to thank R.E.A.C.H.E.S. for the generous donation to our program.  This grant of $5,000 allowed each wrestler in the program to have a new pair of wrestling shoes.  Dothan HS is a Title 1 school, every student receives free/reduced lunch.  If we did not receive this grant, the majority of our wrestlers would not be able to afford shoes.  This grant also provided backpacks and knee pads for our team.  Our program nearly shut down 3 years ago due to lack of funding, poor facilities, and low interest.  Last year we had 22 wrestlers and this year that number grew to 41 wrestlers.  We have a great group of wrestlers that work hard in the wrestling room and in the classroom.  As the head coach, I work hard to try to provide for all of my wrestlers but often don’t have the necessary funds.  Walt Fisk and the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. grant has allowed our program to grow and allow the wrestlers the opportunity to look the part with their Addidas shoes.  I am beyond grateful for this Grant program as it has helped our wrestlers at Dothan High School feel a sense of pride.
Our wrestlers, their parents, our coaches, faculty, AD, Principal, and the community are extremely thankful that R.E.A.C.H.E.S. exists.
