Franklin Heights Awarded R.E.A.C.H.E.S. Funding

Franklin Heights Wrestling Team in Columbus, OH was recently awarded funding from the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. organization to get the proper equipment for this upcoming season. Franklin Heights High School is located in Columbus, OH, which is a part of the Southwestern City School District. Franklin Heights has an estimate of 1,100 kids in the school. In the school history, Franklin Heights has only had one state champion in wrestling. The 2013-14 season was Coach Adam Wright first season at Franklin Heights. The upcoming season, Coach Wright and the Golden Falcons look to turn things around on and off the mat. Numbers have always been an issue at Franklin Heights for most the sports but in the two seasons that Coach Wright has been at Franklin Heights the numbers have increased. The 2015-16 season should be no different. "I applied for the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. grant because the numbers are growing. As a team, kids are showing up to practice not having the proper equipment needed to wrestle, such as head gear and wrestling shoes," said Coach Wright. Along with wrestling shoes and head gear, the grant money will be put to proper team attire that will match every one instead of having different uniforms for different wrestlers. "This is a great honor that Walter Fisk and the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. program have awarded Franklin Heights wrestling team. The funding from the R.E.A.C.H.E.S. program will go a long way for the kids. The funding will help change the lives of many that step foot into the Franklin Heights wrestling room," said Coach Wright. Again we would like to thank everyone at R.E.A.C.H.E.S. for all that you have for done for the sport of Wrestling.

About Brute Wrestling Brute
Wrestling was founded in 1967, in Virginia, by retired U.S. Navy Captain Josiah Henson. Captain Henson was an Olympic bronze medalist in Freestyle wrestling in 1952 and the first American wrestler to beat a Russian at the Olympics. The company began as the first wrestling mail order business. John Purnell joined the company in 1975 and in 1977 became the President and majority owner. Shortly thereafter, Purnell moved the company to Reading, Pennsylvania to begin manufacturing wrestling uniforms under the brand name Brute Wrestling. At that time, the company began distributing through a network of sporting goods dealers. In 1989, a line of soccer uniforms was added under the name Liga Soccer. In 2003, the company product line was expanded to include custom uniforms for volleyball, softball and basketball under the brand name NeuEdge Sportswear. NeuEdge Sportswear quickly became one of the leading producers of custom sublimated team uniforms in the country. In 2010, Henson Group launched a lacrosse and field hockey line under the brand Evolve Team Sportswear. Today Henson Group Sports provides a complete line of top quality wrestling, lacrosse, softball, basketball and volleyball products and apparel to sporting goods dealers; amateur and professional athletic clubs and teams; and other buyers all over North America.
